Event Overview
Iran is the second largest economy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) with an estimated Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2016 of US$412.2 billion. Iran’s economy is characterized by the hydrocarbon sector, agriculture and services sectors, and a noticeable state presence in manufacturing and financial services. Iranian authorities have adopted a comprehensive strategy encompassing market-based reforms as reflected in the government’s 20-year vision document and the sixth five-year development plan for the 2016-2021 period. The sixth five-year development plan is comprised of three pillars, namely, the development of a resilient economy, progress in science and technology, and the promotion of cultural excellence. In keeping view with the Ministry of Energy Vision 2025 to establish a sustainable, comprehensive and integrated water governance and management system including enhanced drought management mechanisms and support technology transfer, technology development, and local manufacturing in collaboration with foreign partners ; Iran Water Technology Summit aims to create a platform to discuss recent technological innovations and scientific research developments related to water resources management, water treatment technology, sea water desalination, environmental and ecological systems, agricultural-water related issues and water infrastructure. The conference brings together key stakeholders from universities, research institutes, governmental agencies, industries and other interest groups.
The Iran Water Technology Summit, scheduled to be held in Tehran, Iran in November 2018 will serve as a platform for new partnerships formed between utilities, project developers, technology leaders and investors.
